Firmware Updates

This page provides everything you need to update the firmware on your MFD Touch and understand what has changed between versions.

It includes:

  • Firmware update instructions to guide you through the update process.
  • Release notes outlining new features, improvements and bug fixes for each version.

Firmware updates may introduce new features, improve performance, or resolve known issues. We recommend keeping your device up to date to ensure the best performance and compatibility.

The update process is SD card-based and does not require any cables, software tools, or a PC connection.

Equipment List #

  1. An SD card (FAT32 formatted)
  2. A computer to download and copy the firmware file
  3. Your MFD Touch unit with a power supply

  1. Download the latest update file from the VBOX Automotive Website.
    (Your unit must be registered to receive the required login details for the download. If you have not registered your unit yet, you can use this Registration Form.)
  2. Unzip the folder and place the .rvf file in the root directory of the SD card (not in the media or any other folder).
  3. Insert the SD card into the side panel of your unpowered unit.
  4. Power the MFD Touch unit.
  5. Confirm the update by tapping OK.
  6. The unit will then display an update screen with a progress bar.
  7. When the update is complete, the unit will restart.

  • Added ability to set alerts for the Trigger channel. The feature can now be used to notify the user when a digital light barrier has been crossed.

  • Peak acceleration result now populate when using with VBOX IISX.

NEW FEATURES

  • Added Lap Timing testing to perform circuit or point-to-point tests, with time at and ‘speed at’ results given for up to 6 separate split gates.
  • Added VMAX Acceleration test type.
  • Added thermal printer compatibility; Test results will automatically print when an RLVBACS026 is connected.
  • Added support for VBOX 3i ADAS.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • Kalman Filter status indicator updated to match VBOX 3i front panel behaviour.
  • Increased IMU Kalman Filter status reports to improve troubleshooting.

BUG FIXES

  • Text colour no longer resets when changing the selected parameter.
  • Acceleration and Deceleration tests no longer abort when the IMU Kalman Filter is used, and satellite reception is lost.
  • Fixed stability issues caused by the autosave file being blank.

NEW FEATURES

  • Support added for product integration with the VBOX 3iS range. Firmware Version 1.2.9388 or greater required.
  • Support added for product integration with the VBSS 100Hz range. Firmware Version 1.8.1664 or greater required.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • The distance parameter now continues to be calculated during GNSS dropouts when the Kalman Filter is utilised.

BUG FIXES

  • Removed erroneous screen alerts when removing the penultimate screen.
  • Small correction applied to 'Speed at Distance' result, when the test starts from stationary.
